We publish an annual directory of members to make it easy to contact the people you meet at IMA events.
Optional joint membership with N.A.M.A.
As a member of the IMA, you may join the North American Mycological Association at a discounted rate of $32.00. N.A.M.A. sponsors a national meeting with classes, forays, and opportunities to work and talk with mycology professionals. N.A.M.A. also publishes a newsletter and journal.
IMA Activities and the Benefits of Membership
Lecture Series: The lecture series is open to members and to the public. There is a suggested $5 donation for non-members who attend a lecture. However, no one will be turned away due to the lack of funds. So, please join us!
Digital Monthly Newsletter: Club members receive a great digital monthly newsletter with articles, recipes, research, art and information on additional events.
Local Membership Discounts: In addition to the discounted joint-membership with the N.A.M.A., IMA members qualify for a discounted membership at the Chicago Botanic Garden. (Details below.)
Forays: Please note that forays are open to IMA members only. This is because the IMA is a scientific and educational nonprofit that holds a scientific collector's permit to pick wild mushrooms for research and education. This permit extends to members only. We welcome anyone who is interested to become a member and join us on a foray!
MEMBERSHIP LEVELS
At the IMA, it is goal to provide entertaining and informative programming and bring in speakers who will both delight and inform. If you enjoy hearing from the foremost experts on mycology, and are able, please consider joining as a supporting member. Supporting members pay $150 per year.
All supporting membership funds directly support our programs and help us bring in high quality presenters.
In addition to access to forays and receiving the IMA's monthly email newsletter, the $150 level includes the benefits noted below.
1. Corporate Membership- $150
You'll receive two business card sized ads in our email newsletter during your membership year to let our members know about your business or organization. These ad placements may be given as gifts to your friends.
2. Premiere Individual or Family Membership- $150
You'll receive a club t-shirt and the opportunity to join a pre-meeting dinner with a monthly speaker of your choice. The club's Board of Directors hosts the dinner, and will be happy to invite you to join the gathering. Please note that the Board arranges the dinner and covers the presenter's dinner. Board members and member guests cover the cost of their own dinners.

4. Student or Individual (non-supporting) Membership- $20
How to Join: You can join when you attend a meeting in-person, with Paypal, or by filling out the form provided at the bottom of the page.
Printer-friendly versionAnnual dues are $20 for individuals and $25 for families for the calendar year, payable to IMA. and entitles you to receive the IMA Newsletter published nine times a year and to participate in all IMA activities. (If you join after 1 September, dues for the remainder of the year are $10.) IMA meets at 7:30 PM on the first Monday of each month and the first Tuesday in September. There will be no meetings in January and July of 2013.
